Fashion Island shopping mall / The priority parking with a very good service

Fashion Island A well-known and leading shopping mall in Ram-in-thra area. However, previously, this mall was just like any others that had poor design and accessibility on priority parking. They didn’t comply the regulations on how priority parking should be nicely provided. Service quality that needed improvement. It occurred just around this time a year ago. So we rushed to give them some pieces of advice and tried to engage in practical processes. Surprisingly, within a month, everything was wholly transformed to the better. Department of Empowerment of PWDs (DEP) jumped down to solve the issue of accessible parking!

13 July 2016 Accessibility Is Freedom was attending a meeting with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEP) regarding accessible facilities, held by Mr. Maitri Intasood, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, as President, and Mr. Somchai Chalernaumnuysook, Director-General of Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, as Vice President, as well as the management team from the provision of accessible infrastructure and environment for PWDs.

Great improvement in the priority parking at Terminal 21 department store, this is so well done!!

ะ Terminal 21 Visiting shopping centers I have never forgotten to inspect the priority parking bays those they have provided. After having finished checking the elevator installation at BTS station, I made my way to Terminal 21 the shopping centre for my dinner. Yes, I did not forget to drop in at the priority parking area for PWD to check if I could spot some changes or any problems over there. Accessibility Is Freedom journey is for leaning. We would like to see the difference, and bring back for the better development of our country. One of the things that we have learnt from Singapore is, (almost) anywhere we go, there will always have an information. And there are common rules that everyone respect. The Disabled Parking Space at Singapore, 100% there is no rail-block and 10,400THB fine

Of course, our first goal we would like to check out is the disabled parking spaces. At Singapore from 6 days of living: + 100% no rail-block (in Thailand cause us can’t use the spaces by ourself) + No Ignored People (Well, would say usually / it is not 100% will tell you later) + And it is 10,400 THB fine. This definitely clearly shows the society quality.

What are we lacking for?

Thailandis a member of The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, or CRPD. All members need to continuously update and report their progresses regarding the subject. I got an opportunity to involve with the meeting and, surprisingly, acknowledged tremendous efforts of many members to improve PWDs’ standard of living in their countries.
