What are we lacking for?

Thailandis a member of The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, or CRPD. All members need to continuously update and report their progresses regarding the subject. I got an opportunity to involve with the meeting and, surprisingly, acknowledged tremendous efforts of many members to improve PWDs’ standard of living in their countries.

An excellent example is Singapore. I was always wondering why this tiny island, with truly limited amount of land space, is far more advanced than Thailand. It’s so tiny that land reclamation is a solution used to gain more land space for further beneficial purposes. However, its green space proportion is increased every year. When I wheeled around along the sidewalk in Singapore, a country as hot and humid as Thailand, the air is incredibly fresh with gigantic tall trees alongside the street.

In contrast, Thailand is much bigger but what we usually saw on news was that the intense movement of deforestation activity was so prevalent. Greedy people invaded and destroyed the forest for their own sakes. What a sad news. And our infrastructure and environment in city is far worse than that. Sidewalk is un-accessible and dirty. Air pollution from vehicles is trouble. Waste management is poor and garbage are everywhere.

WHY?Considering these:
Why PWDs in Thailand face difficulty going around, while they are accessibly and conveniently able to go anywhere in Singapore?
Why it’s way too far that PWDs even have to conduct prosecution for poor accessibility?
Why although the court issues command and there is still no sign for progressive outcome?
Why PWDs have to keep conducting prosecution many times?
Why the quality of any new construction is usually poor and lower than the standard?
Why PWDs are solely fighting and relying on themselves for almost 30 years without sufficient governmental supports, and till now there is low constructive change?
Why governmental authorities do not follow the policy from management?
Why in this modern time of 2017, countless responsible authorities would take an action only if their head comes down to give direct command.
