The Faces of Happiness

The BTS first
4 Elevators
After opening ceremony with Governor of Bangkok and his team, I went to test this brand-new BTS’s elevator.
Accidentally, I met a foreign family with a baby in stroller at the platform floor so we had some conversation then.
I told them that today was the first day for the lift’s operation.
They were so friendly and I didn’t forget to take a picture with them. Their smiles were beautiful and I wanted to share it with all of you.

These first 4 BTS’s elevators were promised to launch back since the former Governor of Bangkok, while they were still in the office.
Actually I once went to test it before this opening ceremony day and found some slight defects in various spots.
However, in overall, it’s acceptably functional.

I would like to clarify you that my work can be separated into two parts. The first part is collaboration with Governor of Bangkok and his team (as well as PWDs communities) to complete all BTS’s elevators in time, as planned.
The second one is cooperation with our network partners to share information, news update, and the truth to the people, as well as filing a lawsuit to Bangkok management team. I know it might sound weird but it needs to be done in parallel. I put my best effort on both parts and set a clear goal that all BTS’s elevators must be completely and correctly installed in time.

I heard good news that the current Prime Minister puts his emphasis on taking care of disabled people as well as building supportive infrastructures to comfort their living, including disabled elevator on public transportation like at BTS.
It’s such impressive news that the leader himself specifies his clear vision as one of priority policies.
Perhaps, Thai population is becoming a fully aging society very soon and needs infrastructure to support and comfort their living. Anyway, I’m quite surprised that even the Prime Minister stated his clear vision, why the performance of those authorities, who are related to these kind of topics, do not reflect their ambition and creativity to make it the concrete results.

I would like to state you again that these infrastructures are not purposely built for PWDs people only.
It’s universally made for everyone, who all has chances to use it in some way and in one day.
In term of tourism and images, Thailand is also a tourist destination. A well infrastructure itself can define our civilization and play as a remarkable deliberateness and positive image to visitors from all around the world.
If they feel impressed and welcomed, they are likely to come back and can spread out these good things from Thailand so on, just like Thai tourists impressively narrate about considerate infrastructures, functionally universal design, or user-friendly technologies in Japan where they experienced them while they go traveling there.

I’m so curious that why authorities don’t rush to make it complete as soon as possible.
We can’t deny the truth that the more waiting time we have, the more opportunity cost we lost.

I want to transform that beautiful smiles from that lovely family as a prevalence for social standard. I want to see the “City for All” where everybody is happy to get out of home and enjoy their life in the city. Everyone deserves good living, be able to comfortably go to anywhere by themselves. If you got some spare time, please be considered to give us your hands. It’s really necessary for our society because one day, you might have to use it.
