Bangkok Accessibility Journey

In cooperation with Accelerator Lab, UNDP Thailand, “Bangkok Accessibility Journey” project finally took place yesterday.

It was an honor to have Mr. Jyri Järviaho, the Finnish Ambassador to Thailand and Cambodia, along with Mr. Renaud Meyer, UNDP Resident Representative to Thailand. The representatives from Disabilities Thailand, The representatives from PWDs network, Transportation For All (T4A), Accessibility Is Freedom, and the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities; Bangkok’s Provincial Vice Governor, the Vice Director of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, and their organizations’ team members to participate in this city’s survey.

The survey route begins at Queen Sirikit National Institute of Child Health. Walking along the sidewalk, we stopped at the BTS Victory monument station, took the sky train to Ploenchit BTS station. Finally, from there, we traveled by foot to the Athenee Tower, where the Embassy of Finland is located.

The objectives of this journey were to survey and observe how people with various disabilities access the city’s facilities and transportation. We hope to utilize the information and discussion we gathered from this activity to develop a concrete policy level that would enable all citizens to equally and sustainably development for everyone.
