Physically different, but the basic need are all the same, please listen our voices

Last Tuesday I and Sai, Luther, and Nuu met together and had some mindful conversation. And we came to a conclusion that although we are physically different, we have common thing on the ground that everyone wants to be able to live independently and doesn’t necessarily require extra assistance all the time, just provide us some basic accessible infrastructure and facilities. Yep, what we want is not entirely different from others. But why we have to keep saying this again and again. Thanks

An equal rights to see things like all of you

It’s been so long that I quite convincing myself to get inside a places with difficult access, just because I feel quite annoyed by being helped. I just didn’t want to bother other people and be lifted like an object. So I always ended up giving a pass and just waited outside.

The power of change, an impressive progress from Korat super cool!!

Thailand’s public transportations is currently flourishing throughout the country, not just Bangkok. More than 5 years I and our strong networks have engaged in countless projects for more equitable accessibility. For part of the Accessibility Is Freedom, we run with our own limited money, so its impact might be modest. Days ago I got news that there would be a general meeting to gain public opinion in regard to the Light Rail Transit in Korat. Oh boy, this news drove me crazy. I really wanted to attend, but I just can’t make it due to my financial and time. However, …

Are we truly equal?

A few days back, I was doing a field survey at ground level under the MRT Tha-phra station. There, it was a major intersection with wide road and busy traffic. The crosswalk colour was obvious, but not every crossing connected with footpath ramp. Yet the worse is still to come as traffic system provided ‘Left turn on red’, and rarely one would stop for pedestrians to cross safely. This complex intersection was also right under the (elevated) train station so it looked a bit dim, especially at night. In addition, after the station completion, there was a brand-new skywalk, replacing …

The Disabilities Thailand, Transportation For All (T4A) and Accessibility Is Freedom attended a meeting with Department of Rail Transport (DRT) in regard to the solution of inclusive accessibility.

The meeting altogether was our very first time. It’s good to get to know each other. We did inform everyone of a big picture in regard to the ongoing accessibility problems. The Director, Deputy Director, and all members of the DRT were such a group of active guys. Everyone actively participated during the discussion, provided informative insight, and showed a willingness to solve the problems accordingly to the regulations and inclusiveness. This integral meeting with several parties was far from surprising. Our groups of PWDs have always engaged with the government. The DRT’s current team was indeed the former team …

The real hero that alive and we all shall not forget “Chris Ben-ja-koon”

A young movie star who became disabled by sacrificing himself to help a victim out of an accident many years ago. For me, Chris is a superhero in real life. We can see him, meet him in person, touch him, and talk to him over a cup of coffee. I usually have a meeting around that place and often visit his café. Normally he was busy at work but not today, so we had some talk over a brilliant cup of coffee.
