“The disabled’s smashing of the BTS elevator” The Confession of the Incident.

I was invited to give a talk at an exhibition regarding accessibility. I wanted to tell everyone the truth about the incident on last year that why I smashed the BTS elevator. At first, this incident was aggressive and violent which everyone should avoid doing so. But since it already happened, we better find out the reasons. The Constitution of Thailand has stated clearly that “Human dignity, rights, liberties and equality of the people shall be protected. The Thai people, irrespective of their origins, sexes or religions, shall enjoy equal protection under this Constitution.” Well written. But in reality, PWDs …

“This is fucking stupid.” Do you hurt? (SABA LIVE at Sukhumvit 101)

Heard clearly and loudly during #SabaLive on the footpath at Sukhumvit 101. During the live at 12:00 minutes, there was a foreigner jumping to tell the cold truth about the footpath (Link: https://www.facebook.com/AccessibilityIsFreedom/videos/431291530987334/?t=690)) “This is fucking stupid!!” As a host, I totally felt embarrassed. Disappeared when construction is misbehaved. The existing one is also far from good standard. The work process of the civil servants is extremely slow. Poor coordination among the related departments. What do these indicators tell us? Do you feel embarrassed? Do you hurt? Do you feel you can’t breathe properly? Please remind yourself to keep an …

Poor control of footpath work. Bad for pedestrians, worse for the disabled.

Our group of activists passed by Asoke area during the beginning of April 2019. We found that there was, at full scale, an ongoing footpath work alongside the main road. Yet there was no other way for pedestrians to walk safely and comfortably. Ordinary people might still survive this scenario but the same is not true for the disabled, and far worse for wheelchair user that has to step down on the busy street to get through. A real life-threatening moment.

Wait on the side while you’re waiting for the lift

I went to Suvarnabhumi airport. I was about to take a lift to go down stair, and found a group of foreign tourists waiting in front of the lift. I was behind them, wait for a few minutes they’re just stay as they’re been and I said out loud… “Excuse me, you guys are waiting right in front of the lift door, how could the other passengers get off?” The ladies suddenly seemed a bit nervous. One of them began to walk away, taking an escalator instead. Then soon all of them followed the first one.^^ Please pardon me but …

Annoucement: A Donation of Active Wheelchair (1 Unit)

I got a contact from Suphat and Lions Club of Bangkok Bualuang in regard of a donation of an unused wheelchair from a member of the Lomberg family. The former owner is Mike (Mr. Mike Lomberg). In short, Mike used to be a test pilot who later underwent a motor vehicle accident, causing him some disabilities that he’s no longer able to pursue as a pilot. Nevertheless, after the incident, he still managed to acquire a civilian flying license, with the support of installed hand controls.

In case of fire, how could PWDs survived?

In case of emergency, natural disaster, or any unexpected hazardous circumstances, how could a person with disability survive in such scenario? A concern I have deeply kept it for so long, and sparked out again due to the recent serious fire on the building in Bangkok two days ago, three people died and many injured. It’s a question I myself could yet give a proper answer. It’s perhaps due to my ignorance, more information is needed to research. Though I knew that there are  numbers of people specifically working in this issue. Generally speaking, there remains plenty rooms for improvement …
