PWDs leaders tagged team, sent out the concerns signal on the basic accessibility policy of the railway as well as the air transportation system to the minister of Ministry of Social Development and Human Security – Police General : Adul Saengsingkaew

Monday 3 August 2015

The disabled leaders had the opportunity to attend the subcommittee.
To drive the environment and public transportation.
To support independent living of the disabled.

Agenda: Pilot sites to adjust environment to support disabled.
And rail system on both old (SRT, MRT, BRT) and new system.
We had informed Pol. Gen. Adul Sangsingkeo (Minister of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security – MSDHS)
concerning point as below:

  1. BTS:
After losing the case, supreme instructed to prepare complete facilities for disabled within one year.
However, till now I still do not see any progressive much.
With the remainder coming months. How to keep up?
  2. MRT, Chaleom Ratchamongkhon Line:
    Still no additional adjustment.
Various connecting points where disabled people expected to be able to access.
However when our associate disability staffs did field survey still find that this is worrisome and still need a lot of improvement.
The new rail line linking the city, many are springing up.We found that all policies related to accessibility facilities for disability still use same old policies.
  3. MRT Purple Line Project:
The platform lift is installed instead of the elevator as it should be.
In spite of these types of devices is intended to be the last option where no other means to do so.
But suddenly the installation was made for a new station, just two stations by two sets.
BangYai station and another one near BangYai station only.
The Board also concern about safety during the usage.
As we heard, the price of the platform lift are not significantly different than the proper elevator.
More importantly this type of equipment (platform lift) does not literally made for everyone.
On behalf of the “Transportation for All” working group.
We’re respectfully thank you to Pol.Gen.Adul Saengsingkaew for the response to the concerns of our working group.
And requested to organize a specific meeting up again soon.
    As fast and continually.

Stay tune for next update.
