The Department of Disease Control announced 4 groups of flood water diseases on 30 May 2569: leptospirosis and melioidosis come with rain and standing water, and each group has agency advice.
1️⃣ Wear a mask in crowds, wash hands often, get vaccinated – respiratory diseases: influenza, pneumonia, RSV, COVID-19
2️⃣ Don’t soak bare feet, wear boots, cover wounds, shower right after wading – contact diseases: leptospirosis (rat-urine fever), melioidosis (soil fever). Leptospirosis 2,190 cases, 30 deaths, melioidosis 1,654 cases, 77 deaths, to 21 July 2569
3️⃣ Use the 3-Collect measures to prevent 3 diseases – Aedes-borne: dengue, chikungunya, Zika
4️⃣ Don’t shelter under big trees, don’t eat wild mushrooms – health hazards: venomous snake bites, lightning, poisonous mushrooms

Every figure is cumulative for this year, in each agency’s own reporting window; no agency publishes a flood-period count of flood water diseases.
The Department also warns flood water diseases include gastrointestinal and water-borne diseases – hold to the Cooked, Hot, Clean rule.
In Bang Kapi, the Department of Disease Control and the Bangkok health office, with Public Health Service Center 35 Hua Mak and the Bang Kapi District Office, recently investigated dengue. Bangkok has 1,785 cases and 4 deaths, to 19 August 2569, the health office reports.
The National Health Security Office (NHSO) says 2 of the 35 dialysis units that reported in Bangkok and its vicinity are temporarily closed as of 26 September 2569, expected back to normal on Monday 28 September 2569.
The Ministry of Public Health issued 8 directives on 25 September 2569 to prepare advance registers for older adults, people with disabilities, housebound and bed-bound patients and dialysis patients, plus evacuation plans, so moving people and continuing their care is not an infection risk. Patient transfers in Bangkok go through the NHSO hotline 1330 to the Erawan Center.
Doxycycline, the drug that prevents and treats leptospirosis, is free in the gold card benefit package at service units, pharmacies and mobile units – per NHSO Region 12 Songkhla, 11 December 2568, for that round of southern flooding. For melioidosis, no document confirming gold card coverage has been found, so we shouldn’t conclude that ourselves.
