Court of Appeal Judgment

Many of our friends and colleagues in the disability rights community are already aware of this matter. Here’s a summary for those interested in following this case from the original source.

Appeal Court Ruling (January 30, 2025):
– The charge has been adjusted from Section 328 (defamation by publication) to Section 326 (defamation).
– The fine from the Criminal Court’s initial ruling has been reduced from 60,000 THB to 10,000 THB.
– Other charges were dismissed.

We are now waiting to obtain the official court documents for further review and assessment of our next steps.

Just before we went in to hear the judgment, this update was shared within our close working group. From left to right:
– [P’Ood] – A powerhouse lawyer on wheels, tirelessly advocating for disability rights through legal mechanisms. He chairs multiple legal committees and working groups. P’Ood and his secretary – the one was being a photographer, ensuring the care and support of people with disabilities. They’ve stood by us through thick and thin.
– [Professor Weerasak Kowsurat] – Former Minister of Tourism and Sports, Chairperson of the Bangkok Air Quality Council, and a key figure in drafting the Clean Air Management Bill. Professor Weerasak, along with P’Aoy and the FD network, contributed to covering the fine in the initial court ruling. He sent a message saying he would be there to support us—both surprising and heartwarming!
– [Saba] – I’ve lost quite a bit of weight this time! ^^
– [P’Tam] – A lawyer who has fought for the rights of people with disabilities for over 40 years. He is an absolute pillar in the legal battle for disability rights and has dedicated his life to this cause.
– [Many more friends] – Sending messages of support.

Every one of these individuals represents people with disabilities nationwide. For people like us, navigating society under these conditions isn’t easy. Travel is more challenging and comes with higher costs. But we support each other heart to heart, and that alone is more than enough.

Acknowledgments: A huge thank you to the Thailand Council of People with Disabilities for standing with us and supporting legal proceedings. Additionally, appreciation goes to all disability organizations, entrepreneurs with disabilities, the Thailand Disabled Sports Association, and every friend, mentor, and colleague who has shown kindness to this mischievous Saba!

Important Notes:
– This post is not for drama, criticism, or blame.
– Please refrain from criticizing the court’s judgment.
– The issue of accessible parking has been my fight for over 10 years, and I will continue working on it.
– Everyone can contribute in their own way—support the cause through whatever means are feasible for you. Let’s keep pushing forward and working toward solutions.

If there is no fight, there will be no change.
Let’s keep moving forward.
