Marathon School with a final test BS42/2022

Bang Saen Marathon, my third participation (the fifth overall for marathons), here’s a short note for myself:

1. Preparation, rest, and food were all inadequate, and I didn’t sleep well (as usual).
2. Started the race with a light warm-up outside the 5K track, feeling a bit nervous.
3. Within the first 3 kilometers, encountered a damaged road due to flooding, and the wheelchair had a tough time dealing with it. Turning onto Sukhumvit Road was a relief, but my body felt tired and unresponsive, signaling a tough day ahead.
4. Took a left onto Ang Sila Road, then right before the bridge. The road was steep and mostly in poor condition. Had to slow down and use my left arm more. Began to greet and pass others gradually.
5. The bridge was slightly better. Went without rushing, encountered a small hill, and recovered some energy. I needed time to regain my strength after descending from the bridge.
6. Halfway through the marathon, left the bridge and found the road conditions unchanged. It was tough; my body said, “It’s heavy.” Slowly but steadily continued.
7. Took a right onto Ang Sila Road again, and more hills greeted me. Progressed slowly, knowing my condition wasn’t great. Uphill and downhill sections followed.
8. Prepared power gels and energy drinks but felt my body wasn’t responding well.
9. Finally, passed the last 3-kilometer hill and entered the finish line, pushing myself.
10. I’m happy with my run, learned the importance of rest, hydration, and self-assessment. If I neglect these, I’ll definitely struggle.

Thanks to the medical support teams, this year and the last, I trained diligently. Despite facing many challenges this year, I ran until the end. My score for this year’s exam: my body deserves a big thank you.
See you again next year for more great events.
